Sabrina Ward Harrison is another artist i came across at the beginning of my A2 level Fine Art course back in 2010. We were introduced to her at the beginning of the year and told to research her as part of the contextual research for our upcoming project. Again, i found myself particularly drawn to her work as i really love the use of mixed media, in particular her use of writing and hand rendered typography.
I came across a blog (www.thelateafternoon.com/sabrina-ward-harrison) that discusses the work of Sabrina Ward Harrison and i couldn't agree more when the author says "Her work literally spills with colour, voice and imagination. Her artwork, featuring a mix writing, photography, painting and drawing, offers a unique perspective about life, or 'The True Living Project.' It's the type of art that leaves you wondering how it was actually created. I like the messy, inky handwriting that she uses. It conveys both a literal and artistic message."
The author of this blog goes on to show some of her work that she produced in the past, making connections with the style of Harrison, and then suggests that other people try art-journaling, as it is fun, relaxing and gets your creative mind going. I find i am a passionate person anyway, and often over think and worry about a lot of things. I've never been a fan of writing and keeping a diary, but maybe a visual journal could be a way to get my thoughts on paper and potentially create some interesting art!
